Unlocking the Secrets of Your Life: The 12 Astrological Houses

The Twelve Areas of Human Experience as Told by the Zodiac

Most of us have been asked the question, “what’s your sign?” atleast one point in our lives, especially on a first date.  Generally when people ask this question, they are insuring about your sun sign, since that is what most people are familiar with.  But the truth is, we are ALL the signs.  That’s right, ALL.

Make no mistake your Sun sign is an integral part of your birth chart profile.  It shows you who you are at your very best, what brings you joy in life, and what your greatest desires are.  But what some people are not aware of is (and why astrology has gained a bad reputation over the years) is that your sun sign doesn’t describe the whole picture of your celestial blue print.  You have several signs, a rising sign, a moon sign, etc.  But there’s also a very overlooked portion of astrology that accounts for how each chart is so individual and complex; and that is The Twelve House Zodiac System.

Each house represents a different aspect of the human expereince.  The Twelve House Zodiac System provides individuals with a deeper understanding of your life events, relationships, and inner world.  Each house is represented by one of each of the zodiac signs (hence why there are 12 signs in the zodiac) with the first house starting in the sign of Aries and ending in Pisces.

Here’s where it gets tricky though.  Not everyone’s first house starts in Aries and ends in Pisces (those who do have an Aries rising, well lucky you because you have a “natural” chart).  Everyone’s first house starts with their rising sing and ends in the sign that chronologically comes before the rising sign.  For example, I have Scorpio as my rising sign, making Scorpio the sign that rules my first house.  Then it works all the way around and ends in Libra.

This is why in order to get an accurate birth chart profile you MUST have your birth time.  Your birth time is the determining factor of WHAT your rising sign is.

There will be more detailed posts on more specific topics I’ve only lightly touched on in the future.  In this post though, we’re concentrating on exploring each of these individual twelve houses and how they shape your astrological makeup.

The First House: Self Identity, Physical Body, and Outlook on the World

The first house is where your astrological journey begins. Better known as the Ascendant or Rising sign, this house represents your identity, physical appearance, and the first impression you make on others. It’s the lens through which you view the world and how the world sees you. The sign this house rules gives insight of how you approach to life, how you view yourself, and the social mask you wear in unfamiliar settings.  In more modern times we could call this the “vibe” you give off. It also shows your relationship to your body, what we stereotypes ourselves as, and how we go about getting what we want

The Second House: Values, Money, Possessions, and Self Worth

The second house shows us what are values, how we handle finances, and our self esteem.  Money and how we feel about ourselves both tie back to the idea of value (material and non materially).  How much value you put into yourself, directly reflects how things show up in your material world.  It also reflects how youhandle the tangible things in your life, not just money, but your house, your car, and other thing you possess.
